Our newest SDK distinguishes between more than a dozen modes of transportation (MOT) and edge cases. With the addition of “Motorized Two-Wheeled” MOT we have added substantial capability that accommodates different cultural transportation preferences all around the globe. Additionally, this new capability addresses the growing popularity of transportation changes (such as eScooters) thereby creating value in major cities and population centers.
Why does “motorized two-wheeled” Mode of Transportation matter to a FNOL program? Simply put, because many times, “False Trip Suppression” can be one of the most valuable forms of “False Positive Suppression”.
No matter how sophisticated the algorithm is, the physics of a journey can be unnecessarily confusing. However, Sfara’s SDK knows when someone is taking an alternative MOT such as a bicycle, train, or motorcycle. Therefore, the SDK can deduce that journey isn’t eligible to declare a Car Crash because of our comprehensive MOT technology. This “selective deconstruction” of the False Positive challenge is only one of many techniques that we apply at Sfara. Taking these extra steps makes our SDK the only serious choice for Insurance companies and Automotive OEMs, especially if their needs include our All-Speed Crash Detection with ZeroMotion™.
It’s no secret that Sfara obsesses over false positive suppression with its smartphone-based Crash Detection. But what may surprise many, is just how much work our SDK is trained to instantly perform on device (often called “edge-based processing”) versus sending copious amounts of raw data from the user’s device to be collected and stored in the cloud for later analysis.
As a result of our efforts, the user enjoys less data being transmitted and therefore less battery consumed. Our partners benefit from industry-leading crash detection and false positive suppression with an enhanced adherence to the letter, and the spirit, of privacy law such as GDPR’s “Data Minimization Principles”.
For the industry, Sfara’s obsession with these disciplines pays huge dividends in helping to create exceptional user experience while maximizing the enterprise value of FNOL programs. That’s something in which our teams take great pride.
